Letter from the Executive Director
Anticipating and planning the Holidays are always the most disquieted time of year for me. Will people be generous? Will they give soon enough? Will the demand of our services be greater than our resources? After 26 Holiday seasons here at the Caring Center you think I would have more faith. All I have to say is God is still working on me and I am getting stronger in my faith.
It is always amazing at the way the items come in, as if there is a master composer directing each and every donation. This Community always steps up and helps those going through wearisome times. Because of this outpouring we have always had enough to help our dear clients.
Ben from New Hope Christian Church shared:
Being on staff as the Worship Minister, I view my role to be far more expansive than just the music we sing on Sunday mornings. My role is to help pastor the worship of our church throughout the week. Music is just a small portion of our worship, but how we live our lives, how we love others, how we serve those around us is the life of worship God calls us to. So, we revived what we call the “Generosity Buckets” which are buckets in our sanctuary for people who want to give above and beyond their tithes and offerings to help people in need in our community. Every dollar given in the buckets are given away, no strings attached, to meet real needs and to bless people in our community. Therefore, I viewed it well within my job description to rally our church to sacrificially give and be generous especially in the Holiday season through the Generosity Buckets.
The goal was simply to engage our church as one body towards a united front of giving in our community. So many in our church are blessed beyond measure and were ready to prepare big holiday meals for their family and friends. So, my only goal was to help them remember that there are many in our community that purchasing a big meal was going to be a burden on them. With so much that we have been given, God calls us to celebrate the holidays not like everyone else, but in the spirit of Christ, look out for our neighbor and bless them as well.
We want to thank every donor for making 2019 a record breaking year. Way to go Boone County!
